The FDIC and OCC have each released their lists of CRA performance evaluations from August 2018. In addition, these agencies - as well as the Federal Reserve - have released their quarterly schedules of planned CRA evaluations for the 4th quarter of 2018 and the first quarter of 2019. Institutions regulated by the OCC, FDIC, and Federal Reserve can review these schedules to determine whether they are on the planned list of upcoming CRA exams.
As we have said before, one of the best resources a CRA officer has to understand their regulator’s CRA expectations for them is to review their regulator’s CRA performance evaluations of similarly situated financial institutions. As the OCC and FDIC continue to release aggregate lists of CRA performance evaluations, this is a fairly easy task for institutions regulated by these agencies.
In August of 2018, the FDIC release 82 performance evaluations which included six (6) Outstanding ratings, three (3) Needs Improvement ratings, and one (1) Substantial Noncompliance rating. On the other hand, the OCC released 16 evaluations including two (2) Outstanding ratings, and the remaining fourteen (14) having a Satisfactory rating.
