FDIC Updates Part 328 Q&As

On August 16, 2024, the FDIC updated its Questions and Answers related to the final rule governing FDIC Official Signs and Advertising Requirements, False Advertising, Misrepresentation of Insured Status, and Misuse of the FDIC Name or Logo (part 328). The Q&As, first issued in July 2024, provide clarifying information on the final rule to support stakeholders in the implementation of part 328.

The Q&As address key implementation topics, including the  placement and display of the official digital sign and non-deposit sign. They also cover the use of advertising statements across different deposit-taking channels like websites, mobile apps, ATMs, and social media. Additionally, the Q&As provide information on technical support, such as where to download the official digital sign. According to the FDIC, it will provide additional resources to further assist stakeholders with implementation, including presentation slides from banker webinars on part 328.
