Federal Agencies Seek Further Comment on Efforts to Reduce Regulatory Burden

On December 3, 2024, the federal bank regulatory agencies announced their third notice requesting comment to reduce regulatory burden. The agencies are required to review their regulations at least once every 10 years to identify outdated or otherwise unnecessary regulatory requirements for their supervised institutions.

In July 2024, the agencies first published a notice requesting comments to reduce regulatory burden. To facilitate the review, the agencies divided their regulations into 12 categories and are now soliciting comments on their regulations for three categories: Rules of Procedure, Safety and Soundness, and Securities.

Comments must be received no later than 90 days from publication in the Federal Register.
