On July 23, 2024, the Treasury Department, on behalf of FinCEN published a Notice of Information Collection and request for comments regarding the information collection associated with requests made to FinCEN by certain persons for beneficial ownership information. Written comments must be received on or before August 22, 2024.

FinCEN issued the Beneficial Ownership Information Access and Safeguards final rule on December 22, 2023 and was made effective on February 20, 2024 regarding access by authorized recipients to beneficial ownership information (BOI) that will be reported to FinCEN. The Notice seeks comment from the public regarding the information to be collected from certain persons requesting beneficial ownership information from FinCEN as well as on the estimate of the burden involved in the information collection.
